The Island of Paradise Lost
This really does showcase an entirely new scale of picture production over the sketches done on the islands.
What is this all about?
Adam Falconer is a veteran of the wars in the low countries at the time of the Spanish Armada.
The story is set around a fantastic island…a sort of garden meets Eldorado sort of place.
The love story is set 400 years apart and is a juxtaposition of fantasy, history and humans need for religion. Nature in all its glory is evident and this is the backdrop for many of the pictures which are 1.5m by 1m in size.
If I was going to produce a homage to Jules Verne meets Daniel Defoe this it. Of course, I bow before these leviathans of action-adventure. All I can say is that it is a yarn which is still going on as this is written.
The second set of drawings is also inspiring the text. So I am retrofitting the story into a landscape and themes which already exist. I think this is a new way of producing a story…or I certainly haven’t heard of it before.
The tale like most of the other written work will have characters disappearing. That is what happens in real life. Not everything goes to plan or to plot.
The visual backdrop takes much from the Pacific…although our Island is the other side of the Azores.
The first story is for sale. It has a few glitches…but we will get rid of those. Why not see the art or the video of me talking about the pictures? We insist on doing the QR videos in one take…so no obvious scripting ..straight from the heart…a bit like the pastel drawings in the books…they are set as they are…mistakes and all. There is something in the process of just ‘getting on’ with stuff.
