The sad passing of Malcolm Fryer
After a long fight with cancer, we are sad to announce that Malcolm passed away on Saturday 7th January 2023 at the age of 85. I spoke to his daughter Katie who has borne the brunt of cheerfully sitting with Malcolm at home as he fought against multiple challenges. Apart from being a superb artist, Malcolm was a fantastic human being. His spirit is with the angels but his work lives on to inspire another generation to take up the gauntlet of creativity exemplified in so many inspiring landscapes. Everything from his home at Southport to Appleby, to the Lake District and far-flung Antigua. Malcolm chose the uncertain road of being an artist. He was always generous with his time. Subliminally and in a far lesser sense, I think the daubs I now do are influenced by the great man ‘Malcolm Fryer’.
