My Time In Mexico

Since the death of the top narco lord in Mexico, you cannot underestimate the challenges the country will face in the future.

Around 40 million tourists visit Mexico each year. Even in popular destinations such as Cancun, Tulum and Playa del Carmen, narco groups take a cut or sell large quantities of cocaine and other substances.

God bless the honest, everyday workers and families who are set upon by these bullying narco gangs. Many get caught in crossfire, have their cars burned, and suffer just as rival groups do. The army is generally less “in the pay pocket” than local police, who are themselves often intimidated or outgunned by drug dealers.

While visiting, I had the opportunity to buy some local paper and acrylics. The combination of the two is quite unusual. The natural high glow of the paper can be used in contrasting and striking ways.

You can see the results in the following works:

Fruit Stall

The Trees – Celestún

Morning Beach – El Cuyo
